How it all started way back in 1999!
L1AM started Karting at 10 years of age in 1999 with his Dad & Late Grandad as just a bit of fun on a Saturday at Tockwith Motorsports, York.
It was soon very clear that Liam was a born racer! He beat his Dad & Late Grandad instantly! This forced the "old guys" to retire gracefully with the focus on L1AM's Karting Career.
So starting out in the Honda Cadet class at the NON - Motor Sports Association (MSA) Circuit at Tockwith, York, L1AM WON ALL of his Novice Races!
After taking the MSA "arks" test, L1AM then moved into the world of two-stroke Karting aboard a JM Mari Kart with a Comer S60 Engine.
Then it was on to Formula Yamaha followed by Formula TKM competing in Junior TKM, Junior Intermediate TKM & TKM Extreme, competing at Trent Valley Kart Club (TVKC) at PF International (PFI), Whilton Mill Kart Club (WMKC) and his local South Yorkshire Kart Club (SYKC).
With many wins at Club Level during this period. Some achievements were:-
2004 - WMKC Championship 5th Junior TKM
2005 - WMKC Championship 2nd Junior TKM Intermediate
2006 - SYKC "W" Plate meeting in memory of a prominent local Kart Trader & Racer, Brian Wilson, 1st TKM Extreme
2006 - SYKC "Cock of the North" 1st TKM Extreme and also set the Track Record after the circuit had been resurfaced.
2006 - SYKC Championship 2nd TKM Extreme
After a break of three years due to work commitments, L1AM returned in 2010 winning his first Rotax 177 Final at WMKC. Unfortunately, after suffering an injury, L1AM turned his attention and preparations to the 2011 season, winning many heats and finals along the way resulting in 2nd in the WMKC Championship.
LIAM is NO FAN of the "drop score regulation" as after finishing 1st on Points in 2005 - 2006 - 2011 he actually ended in 2nd place on each occasion.
Liam is a fully trained mechanic having served his apprenticeship with Audi and has also worked for Mercedes, VW & Porsche.
